Our Commitment
Selfdy is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance Status
Selfdy aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
Technical Specifications
Selfdy relies on the following technologies for conformance:
- HTML5

- JavaScript (React / Next.js)
- WAI-ARIA where appropriate
Measures We Have Taken
- All pages include a skip navigation link to allow keyboard users to bypass the header
- All images include descriptive alt text
- The site uses semantic HTML landmarks (header, main, nav, footer, article)
- Color contrast meets WCAG 2.1 AA minimums (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
- All interactive elements are keyboard accessible
- The site language is declared (
lang="en") - Pages have descriptive, unique titles
- Data tables use proper header markup
- Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where we are actively working to improve accessibility:
- Some older article content may not have perfect heading hierarchy — we are reviewing and correcting these on a rolling basis
- The state laws campus policy tables are data-heavy and may be difficult to navigate on screen readers on mobile devices — we are exploring improved table navigation patterns
Assistive Technology Support
Selfdy is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), and TalkBack (Android)
- Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
- Keyboard-only navigation
- High contrast mode
